The Different Sort of Ambition

What should be the ambition of an earthen vessel?

To serve well, despite one’s cracks and chips.  To be at peace at the back of the counter, behind the cabinet doors, or even on the floor.  Its greatness isn’t measured by its prominence but rather by its usefulness and sharing the treasures given it by grace.  What we now venerate as our icons of holiness were once earthen vessels.

St. James, patron of pilgrims and laborers, pray for us on our journey of discipleship. —JC
