Receptionist/part time – Milwaukee, WI

 

House of Peace, a ministry of The Province of St. Joseph of the Capuchin Order

Inspired by the gospel of Jesus and the example of Francis of Assisi, the Capuchin friars of the Province of St. Joseph, together with our partners in ministry, prayerfully build sister-brotherhood in the world.  We attend simply and directly to the spiritual and other basic human needs, especially those of the poor and disenfranchised, promoting justice for all.

The House of Peace is currently seeking a part time Receptionist.  The primary purpose of this position is responsible to greet and assist guests and to perform administrative support functions.     

 Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • •Two years’ experience in an office environment with demonstrated effective  customer service skills.
  • Develop and distribute monthly and annual statistical report. 
  • •Develop and maintain a list of contact people for community organizations working with the House of Peace.
  • "Handles telephone calls and requests for information from guests and community organizations. 
  • Provide secretarial support to employees.   •         
  • Coordinates mail handling and distribution. 
  • •Assist in House of Peace services, programs and activities.
  • •Work with Capuchins, employees and volunteers to develop a comfortable, hospitable and supportive environment for guests of the House of Peace.    
  • •Some periodic local travel may be required.  

The work schedule is generally Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm with evening and weekend work related to ministry needs.

Kitchen Manager – St. Ben’s Community Meal, Milwaukee, WI

St. Ben’s Community Meal, a ministry of The Province of St. Joseph of the Capuchin Order is currently seeking a Kitchen Manager.  The primary purpose of this position is the oversight and supervision of the daily activity of the Community Meal.  The Kitchen Manager assures that a nutritious meal is served in an atmosphere of hospitality and respect.           

Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrate, exemplify and support the Capuchin Charism throughout all professional responsibilities and activities. 
  • Minimum one year previous supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated interest in or involvement with Charitable or social justice issues
  • Oversees and supervises the daily operation of the meal through on-site presence and guidance.
  • Ensure proper sanitation procedures are observed and maintained in all aspects of food preparation, serving and storage.
  • Oversee cleanliness and safety of kitchen equipment and facility
  • Coordinate the activities of meal employees, volunteers, sponsorship groups and guests to achieve the Community Meal’s mission.
  • Oversee the bookkeeping and payroll for the Meal. 
  • Ability to function in a collaborative environment while also working independently and managing several tasks simultaneously. 
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
  • Some periodic local travel may be required.
