Scattered but Not Shattered | Dispersos pero No Destrozados

Acts 8:1b-8; John 6:35-40

The members of the Church in Jerusalem were scattered by persecution. It may be hard for us nearly 2000 years later to appreciate how vulnerable they really were. In fact, they faced an existential threat. But they persevered, and aided by the Holy Spirit, the followers of the Way not only survived but continued to grow.

When Philip fled to Samaria, he didn’t go into hiding. Instead, he “proclaimed the Christ” to the people there and carried out the amazing work of healing and driving out demons that Jesus commissioned his disciples to do.

Today the Church is also scattered. In a few places, it is by persecution. In many others, however, it is by a virus. Where is your Samaria these days? For many, it’s their own home. For others it may be a hospital, healthcare facility or an “essential business.” How can you proclaim Christ Jesus where you are? How can you bless, break and share the Bread of Life?

The Church today may be scattered, but she is not shattered. Through the intercession of St. Catherine of Siena, who boldly proclaimed the gospel and called the Church to be true to herself in the 14th Century, may we continue to proclaim the gospel and be true to who God has called us to in our time.

Hechos 8:1b-8; Juan 6:35-40

¿Cómo puedes proclamar a Cristo Jesús dónde estás?
