Two Great Escapes | Dos Grandes Fugas

April 15, 2026
Wednesday of the 2nd Week of Easter
Acts 5:17-26, John 3:16-21

We might call them two great escapes.

When the apostles were jailed by those opposed to their message, God sent an angel to free them in the middle of the night. The purpose, however, wasn’t to bring them to safety but rather to enable them to continue telling others about their new life in Christ.  It didn’t keep them from being apprehended again, but it bolstered the courage they would need to stay faithful, even as the opposition intensified.

When Jesus described to Nicodemus the extent of God’s love for us and God’s desire for our salvation, he told him the ultimate purpose was to free us from death: “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” We are blessed to receive the gifts of God’s love and salvation. What will we do with those gifts?

We pray for the courage and fidelity of the apostles and the resolution to be the instruments as well as the beneficiaries of God’s love and salvation. jc

Miércoles de la segunda semana de Pascua
Hechos 5, 17-26; Juan 3, 16-21
