Solanus Casey Center and Capuchin Soup Kitchen introduce ‘Hope AI’ for free mental Health Support
DETROIT - The Solanus Casey Center and Capuchin Soup Kitchen announce the launch of Hope AI, a clinician-scripted artificial intelligence chatbot offering free, confidential mental health assistance accessible via web browser or text interface. Developed by Cass AI and funded by a generous grant from Priority Health Total Health Foundation, Hope AI aims to provide access to basic needs resources such as food, clothing, health and other service providers, as well as immediate support to individuals facing mental health challenges.
Hope AI leverages advanced AI technology to deliver personalized mental health support, incorporating evidence-based therapeutic techniques to assist users in managing stress, anxiety, and other emotional concerns. Available 24/7, the chatbot ensures that individuals have access to support whenever they need it, promoting mental well-being within the community.
"We are committed to addressing the mental health needs of our community," said Br. Fred Cabras, OFM Cap., Director of Social Services for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and lead counselor at the Solanus Casey Center. "By integrating Hope AI into our services, we aim to provide accessible and immediate support to those seeking assistance, reflecting our core values of compassion and empowerment."
“The Priority Health Total Health Foundation is pleased to partner with the Solanus Casey Center and Capuchin Soup Kitchen to launch the HOPE AI chatbot to offer mental health support to Detroit residents,” said Shannon Wilson, executive director of the Priority Health Total Health Foundation. “Our missions align to provide compassionate and accessible mental health assistance to those who are most underserved, and we are excited to be a part of this forward-thinking initiative.”

About Solanus Casey Center
The Solanus Casey Center welcomes over 120,000 visitors each year, inspiring them to follow Blessed Solanus Casey’s example of humble service to people experiencing poverty and illness. As the porter, or doorkeeper, at St. Bonaventure Monastery, Blessed Solanus listened, counseled and prayed with people experiencing life's difficulties and hardships, offering material and spiritual assistance to those in need. His simple and direct spirituality, based on the example of St. Francis of Assisi, helped inspire the formation of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen at the onset of the Great Depression in November 1929 and following his death in 1957, put him on the path to sainthood.
