St. Bonaventure Monastery

Founded in 1883, St. Bonaventure Monastery is home to many of the Detroit Capuchin friars. Detroit's Islandview neighborhood grew up around the Monastery and the historic Mt. Elliott Cemetery across the street.

Many of our Detroit Capuchin ministry directors reside in the monastery as well as our retired friars who are now living a life of prayer and reflection.  Donations earmarked for the retired friars are always welcomed.

St. Bonaventure Monastery is located at 1740 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207
